Quit
Smoking Plan
You're ready to
change and start living a clean life but just can’t figure
out how to get to that elusive place you want to
get to, the place where you quit smoking cigarettes. It is a
disgusting habit that leaves an unpleasant odor and an even more
unpleasant situation for your personal health in the long run. There
are plenty of people who want to quit smoking but very few of them
know how or when to get started. This is your time and this is your
opportunity to make a difference in your life that will make you feel
better about yourself on the inside and the outside.
The first thing
for you to do is to set
a time and date that you will quit smoking for good without any
relapses. Every time this date comes up in your
mind think only positive thoughts and look forward to it. Once the date
comes you need to get rid of EVERYTHING in your home that has to do
with cigarettes or smoking, not just the cigarettes. Ashtrays,
lighters, matches all need to go. Don’t let
friends and family smoke in front of you, tell them they
don’t have
to quit smoking, but they do around you.
Allow yourself
to enjoy the support of
those around you; don’t be shy or upset when someone mentions
something negative about your previous smoking behavior. Take up a
new habit that will occupy the time where you smoked in your previous
life, whether it is jogging or crossword puzzles, ANYTHING to take up
the time where you previously smoke a cigarette. Make sure you are
drinking plenty of fluids and enjoying things that you didn't before
when you were smoking. The key thing in the first hours, days, weeks
and months of quitting is you need to make yourself feel special in
some way, shape or form.
It is possible
to get medications from
your family doctor or over the counter to help you quit smoking, but
you need to know just how it will affect you physically before
ingesting it. You need to understand that your mood and weight could
fluctuate in the months after you quit smoking, make arrangements to
work out and do things you like to overcome this. Friends and family
are important, but those who don’t help you overcome this
aren’t
worth being around for a while. Good luck with your goal to quit
smoking cigarettes!
